Victorian Steamship

ABOUT

The only complete Victorian steamship in existence.  She is a large costal cargo vessel originally launched in London in 1890.  Moored in Royal Docks on the water less than a mile from where she was built, she now sits on a specially constructed pontoon which offers more space for storage, greenrooms or as an extra location.  The steamship has an atmospheric steel hold plus the original galley kitchen, captain’s quarters, steam engine, boiler, funnel, 3 masts and large cast iron propeller. She also has two wooden roped winched life vessels.

The ship’s original cargo hold is full of character, with period beams, girders and iron rivets creating a nautical and raw industrial feeling. It’s a long, dark and cavernous interior. Removing the cargo hatch covers allows the interior to be flooded with natural light.

The Pontoon with its huge central room and satellite cabins around it is completely different again, being of modern clean construction and finish, all with straight angles and lines. Small portholes provide atmospheric light to some cabins, whilst the central space is dark to enable lighting installations.

The office is located approx. 30m away can be used as a green room or production space.
